How do I play?

Gemp-Swccg plays the Star Wars Customizable Card Game in your browser against other players or against a bot: no cards to buy, no table to clear, no clean-up afterwards. It enforces the rules and the card text for you, so you can concentrate on the game.

New to the game, or coming back after a while? The SWCCG Wiki explains the rules, the cards, the sets and the formats, and has starter decks and strategy articles.

Getting started on GEMP

  1. Build a deck with the Deck Builder (the button at the bottom of the Game Hall), or skip this step: when you open a table you can also pick a ready-made deck from the deck library, which holds starter and sample decks for the common formats.
  2. Open a table. Back in the Game Hall, press Play and choose Play Against Bots to practise against the computer, Open Casual Table for a game against another player in the format of your choice, Open League Table for a game that counts in a league you have joined, or Create Tournament.
  3. Or join one. Tables other players have opened are listed under Waiting Tables; press Join table on one and pick your deck. Games in progress are under Playing Tables, where you can Spectate any game that is not private.
  4. Play. The game opens in a new window. Cards you may play are highlighted; click one to play it, or Pass to move on. The Manual beside this page walks through the game window in detail.

Where to look next

  • Manual: the hall, the deck builder and the game window, step by step.
  • Format Definitions: what each format allows (deck size, sets, banned and restricted cards).
  • What Are Leagues?: how league play works, how to join one and how it is scored.
  • Events (the tab at the top): the leagues and tournaments running now and their standings.

Found a problem with a card or with the site? Use Report a Bug at the top of the Game Hall; it opens the project's issue list on GitHub.
